Classe CA1000 Stereo Power Amp
Excellent with original packaging.
The CA-100 is a very easy stereo amp to recommend. It does so many things so well, it is tough to point out any weakness with it. Of course, it has to be measured within reason like how it only cost $1500 new which to us, was a real ridiculous bargain. It was very well built, has a huge transformer inside, accepts XLR and RCA input and is switchable to mono for twice the amount of power. Its 100W per channel in 8 ohms may sound a tad “weak” but we never found it to run out of steam even when driving Magnepans. In fact, that match up was absolutely magical. The smooth mids of Maggies was only accentuated by the Classe. The CA-100 may lack the might of a similarly powered Krell amp but it is only so slightly and that is mainly in the bass slam section. The mids and highs were rich and sweet. As a stereo amp, it is a wonderful sounding amp. And if you prefer how it sounds but needed more power, find another one and run them as monoblocks. That will bring the total power output to 200W/8 Ohms and 380W/ 4 ohms.
