Unconventional concept: Passive crossovers and a "classic" stereo amplifier
Very often, electronic crossovers are used in active loudspeakers and the individual drivers are driven by their own Class D amplifiers. This path was also initially taken in the development of the Mozart Infinity. But after the first listening impressions, it quickly became clear that the sound that could be achieved in this way did not correspond to the company's own ideas.
The sonic influence of the active crossovers in conjunction with several Class-D amplifier modules could not be minimized to such an extent that the result met Peter Gansterer's requirements. Therefore, the development entered unknown territory and was open to other ways of technical implementation.
At the end of the day, the concept of today's Mozart Infinity was born: loudspeakers with conventional, passive crossovers driven by a powerful stereo amplifier located in one of the two cabinets. (The connection to the second box is made by a speaker cable – the second unit therefore does not require a power connection.
The result of this unusual implementation is more than something to be seen or more than heard!
What does it sound like now?
In short: Fantastic! All the acoustic "genes" that distinguish Vienna Acoustics loudspeakers can be found in the Mozart Infinity. What's more, the Infinty has a special sense for the musical subtleties of all musical genres. It's just a pleasure to sit down in front of these active streaming speakers and enjoy music. You literally forget the integrated technology and immerse yourself in the respective performance.
When the Mozart Infinity was presented at the High-End 2023, there was an exciting detail: Almost all visitors who left the very spacious Vienna Acoustics room (only the Mozart Infinity could be heard there) had a discreet smile on their faces! A very nice compliment for a speaker, we think.
Universally applicable
Also worth mentioning for use in your own four walls is the available variety of connections. The TV sound can be integrated via HDMI. If you own a CD player and a record player, you have the option of connecting both devices directly to the Mozart. There are analog and digital inputs, which means that the speaker can also be used as a D/A converter.
